Ms. Jessica D’Souza, Chief Nursing Officer, Global Hospital, Parel, Mumbai, commented, “The pandemic has been a challenging time for the entire health care system and has laid huge strain, especially on our nurses.” Further, she added we celebrate our nurses every single day but this pandemic has also given us an opportunity to call for a reset and to investigate new models of care that place nurses at the center of our health systems. Furtados School of Music and Shiamak Davar Dance Academy is to be commended for arranging this session to brighten the mood at Global Hospital, Parel in Mumbai, with the promise of positivity.”
The pandemic has changed how doctors and nurses interact with their patients. While some patients have discovered a godmother in nurses who are actively assisting them in healing more quickly, others have found a sister who constantly encourages them to think positively. When you’re surrounded by negativity, your mental health is bound to suffer after a year of saving lives in these trying times. Furtados School of Music, Shiamak Davar Dance Academy, and Global Hospital Parel, Mumbai decided to use music and dance to impact emotions, feelings, and ideas in order to show gratitude to nurses by improving their psychological health. This was their way of expressing gratitude for their selfless dedication to the patient’s rehabilitation. Additionally, assist them in achieving a sense of mental relief.
Shiamak Davar, celebrated choreographer said, “I bow down to these nurses for keeping us safe and working relentlessly in these testing times. I am immensely thankful to every healthcare professional and I was honoured to know that my art helped them reduce their stress and has brought joy to their faces.”
Penning her thoughts on the idea of relieving the mental pressure of the frontline workers, Ms. Tanuja Gomes, Co-Founder and Co-CEO, Furtados School of Music said, It’s a sheer pleasure for us to use music to spread positivity with our frontline workers and thank them for the sacrifices they’ve been making for us, as music has always been an important component for relieving stress and helping the mind concentrate better.”
Nurses were completely overwhelmed with the surprise planned for them, they were laughing, dancing, singing songs with their colleagues, and learning to play bucket drumming. They were feeling grateful and touched by the people who expressed their gratitude around them and felt proud of their decision to pursue nursing as a career.
